how to use salicylic acid 30% peel on skin?

⚠️ Warning: Salicylic Acid 30% is a HIGH-STRENGTH Chemical Peel!

A 30% salicylic acid peel is very potent and can cause burns, irritation, and hyperpigmentation if not applied properly. This concentration is usually for professional use only and not recommended for beginners.

If you are new to chemical peels, consider starting with a 5-15% salicylic acid peel before attempting 30%. If you still want to proceed, follow these steps carefully.

How to Apply Salicylic Acid 30% Peel Safely

1️⃣ Pre-Peel Preparation

Patch Test: Apply a small amount on the jawline 48 hours before full application.
Stop Retinol, Exfoliants, & Vitamin C at least 5-7 days before the peel.
Avoid Sun Exposure & Waxing for at least one week before the peel.
Hydrate & Moisturize your skin well before and after the peel.

2️⃣ Application Process

Step 1: Cleanse the Skin

  • Wash your face with a gentle, non-exfoliating cleanser and pat dry completely.

  • Apply petroleum jelly around sensitive areas (nostrils, lips, under-eyes) for protection.

Step 2: Apply Salicylic Acid 30%

  • Use a fan brush or cotton pad to apply a thin, even layer.

  • DO NOT leave on for more than 30-60 seconds (for first-time users).

  • Expect mild tingling or a frost-like whitening effect (“frosting”)—this is normal.

  • If you feel excessive burning, rinse off immediately.

Step 3: Rinsing

  • Unlike some peels, salicylic acid does not require a neutralizer—just rinse thoroughly with cold water.

  • Gently pat the skin dry—do not rub!

3️⃣ Aftercare & Recovery

🔹 Moisturize: Use a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer (like aloe vera or ceramides).
🔹 No Scrubbing or Picking: Peeling will start in 3-5 days—let it happen naturally.
🔹 Sun Protection is a MUST: Use SPF 30+ daily to prevent dark spots.
🔹 Avoid Harsh Skincare (Retinol, Exfoliants, Vitamin C) for at least 7 days.

4️⃣ How Often Can You Use It?

  • Every 4-6 weeks, depending on your skin’s reaction.

  • If irritation occurs, reduce frequency or use a lower concentration.
